2020 Antal's Selection Zinfandel

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winerys founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique, small-production wines that honor the winerys pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking. The Vinicultural Society explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Californias Sonoma County.

A dark ruby red in color, this 2020 Zinfandel embraces with aromas of fresh strawberry, dried cranberries, and raspberries. Luminous flavors of ripe berries mixed with baked almond and baking spice linger on the palate. Toasted oak and ripened fruit deliver a creamy texture with structured, well-balanced tannins and an everlasting, delicious finish.

Named for Count Haraszthys grandfather who planted the seed of exploration in his son and grandson, our Antals Selection Zinfandel is harvested from the Baldacchi Vineyard. This vineyard touts 100 year-old vines in the Russian River Valley where the days are warm and the nights are cool, the perfect growing conditions for Zinfandel a varietal The Count helped make prominent in America. This big, bold wine was fermented in open top fermenters with hand punch downs before being aged for 15 months in French oak, 10% new oak.
