2019 Antal's Selection Zinfandel

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winerys founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique, small-production wines that honor the winerys pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking. The Vinicultural Society explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Californias Sonoma County.

A dark crimson purple in color, this 2019 Zinfandel embraces with aromas of fresh raspberry preserves, dried cranberries and a fresh dust of earth. Luscious flavors of dried berries mixed with spice and toasted pumpkin seeds line the palate. Toasted oak and ripe fruit provide a rich texture with structured tannins and a balanced and delightful finish.

Named for Count Haraszthys grandfather who planted the seed of exploration in his son and grandson, our Antals Selection Zinfandel is harvested from the Baldacchi Vineyard. This vineyard touts 100 year-old vines in the Russian River Valley where the days are warm and the nights are cool, the perfect growing conditions for Zinfandel a varietal The Count helped make prominent in America. This big, bold wine was fermented in open top fermenters with hand punch downs before being aged for 15 months in French oak, 6% new oak.
