2015 Antal's Selection Zinfandel

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winery's founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique, small-production wines that honor the winery's pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking.

The Vinicultural Society explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Sonoma County.

A stunning dark ruby color in the glass, our 2015 Antal’sís Selection Zinfandel offers hearty aromatics of blackberry brambles with a touch of cocoa. Richly layered flavors of strawberry and currant are complemented by notes of graham cracker and mocha leading to a spreading finish with a slightly savory note. Robust flavors and juicy tannins make this wine immediately enjoyable, but it will also age beautifully over the next 7-8 years.

Named for Count Haraszthy’s grandfather who planted the seed of exploration in his son and grandson, Antal’s Selection Zinfandel was sourced from vineyards in the warmer region of Sonoma Valley as well as in the Russian River where the days are warm and the nights are cool, the perfect growing conditions for Zinfandel – a varietal The Count helped make prominent in America. This big, bold wine was fermented in open top fermenters with hand punch downs before being aged for 18 months in French oak, 30% new oak.
