The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winerys founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique small-production wines that honor the winerys pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking.
A deep ruby color, this medium-bodied Syrah entices with aromas of dark fruit and a touch of nutmeg. The wine expresses flavors of deep blackberry and cassis on the palate highlighted by layers of cocoa, tobacco and black pepper. Well-balanced acidity and tannins compliment the long and satisfying finish.
The Vinicultural Society explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Sonoma County. In keeping with the adventurous spirit of Buena Vistas founding, we are proud to bring you this delicious 2019 Counts Selection Syrah.
Our 2019 Syrah was produced entirely from fruit grown in the Old Winery Vineyard, located just a stones throw from the historic Buena Vista Winery. This vineyard lies atop gradually
sloping soils contained within the boundaries of Agoston Harazthys original Buena Vista planting. The Huichica Loam soil series provides an ideal environment for expansive root growth, with drainage allowing for naturally restrained vines.
