2017 The Count's Selection "Old Winery Road" Syrah

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winery's founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique small-production wines that honor the winery's pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking.

The Vinicultural Society explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Sonoma County. In keeping with the adventurous spirit of Buena Vista's founding, we are proud to bring you this delicious 2017 Count's Selection Syrah.

Sold out.

The 2017 Counts Selection Syrah opens with alluring aromas of black cherry, black plums and a hint of clove. Rich flavors of blueberries and blackberries are layered with notes of dark chocolate and black pepper on the finish. This well-balanced wine has rugged tannins and a full mouthfeel that spreads across the palate and leads to an impressively long, satisfying finish.

Our 2017 Syrah was produced entirely from fruit grown in the Old Winery Vineyard, located just a stones throw from the historic Buena Vista Winery. This vineyard lies atop gradually sloping soils contained within the boundaries of Agoston Harazthys original Buena Vista planting. The Huichica Loam soil series provides an ideal environment for expansive root growth, with drainage allowing for naturally restrained vines. The vineyard was harvested on September 26, 2017.
