2017 The Count's Selection Petit Verdot

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society was formed in 1863 by the winerys founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards. The Vinicultural Society has been restored as a collection of unique small-production wines that honor the winerys pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking. The collection of wines explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Northern California.

The 2017 Petit Verdot has a dark hue in the glass with aromas of plum, black cherries, and lilacs. On the palate this wine it bursting with flavors of blackberries, sage, and violets. This is a medium plus bodied red with complex layers that continue to evolve in the glass and well integrated tannins.

These grapes were hand harvested on September 27 from a sustainably farmed vineyard located in the prestigious St. Helena appellation. The wine was fermented in open top fermenters before being aged 19 months in 100% French oak, 65% new.
