2016 Otelia's Selection Pinot Noir

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winery's founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique small-production wines that honor the winery's pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking. The Vinicultural Society explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Northern California.

A beautiful pomegranate red in the glass, our 2016 Otelias Selection Pinot Noir opens with enticing aromatic notes of black cherry and plum. On the palette, a taut, rich mouthfeel boasts with juicy flavors of blackberry and dark fruits that are complemented by earthy notes of damp forest floor and pine. This Pinot Noir is a voluminous full bodied wine with a long finish and great aging potential.

Named for Count Haraszthy's youngest daughter, Otelia's Selection Pinot Noir is sourced from one of the finest vineyards atop Sonoma Mountain. This Pinot Noir is sourced from some of the oldest Pinot Noir vines in Sonoma County, this wine has distinctive blend of clones that is enhanced with a small amount of Pinot Meunier to add depth and complexity. A variety of soils ranging from sandy loam with a shallow clay layer to heavy clay contribute to the distinctive deep fruit and earthy flavors in this wine.
