2019 Ida's Selection Pinot Noir

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society was formed in 1863 by the winery's founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards. The Vinicultural Society has been restored as a collection of unique small-production wines that honor the winerys pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking. The collection of wines explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Northern California.

Beautiful garnet color in the glass, this 2019 Pinot Noir opens with fresh aromas of blueberries and raspberries with a hint of flowers. Blackberry and strawberry flavors intersect with notes of licorice cocoa and earth. This medium-bodied wine has balanced acidity, a velvety structure with rich tannins and a beautiful, enduring finish.

Named for Count Haraszthys fourth child and first daughter, Idas Selection Pinot Noir is sourced from four vineyards across the Sonoma Coast. The Pennacchio vineyard faces due east while the Swicegood vineyard is situated to the south and west and Doña Margarita faces south. All three vineyards are planted in gold ridge sandy loam hillsides with a few feet of top soil followed by impermeable clay that constricts root access and therefore growth and adds more density to this Pinot Noir . The fourth vineyard is Sonoma Stage which is located southeast of Petaluma and planted to heavier clay soils and brings richness and complexity to the wine.
