2021 Geza's Selection Pinot Noir

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winerys founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique small-production wines that honor the winerys pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking. The Vinicultural Society explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Northern California.

95 points, The Wine Independent

This Pinot Noir immediately envelops you with attractive fragrances of blackberry, pomegranate and fresh citrus. The palate presents crisp acidity and lush, rich flavors of raspberry and black plum with touches of violet, black pepper, and subtle notes of earth. Tannins are balanced and well-integrated leading to an enchanting and memorable finish.

Named for the Count's eldest son who fought in the Civil War, Geza's Selection Pinot Noir is harvested from two vineyards in the Petaluma Gap that complement each other beautifully. Sloping hills, rocky clay loam soils and low-vigor vines help keep yields low while the myriad of clones ensure greater complexity in the wines. Our Gezas Selection Pinot Noir was fermented in small, open top fermenters with hand punchdowns before being aged for 16 months in 50% new French oak.
