The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society was formed in 1863 by the winerys founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards. The Vinicultural Society has been restored as a collection of unique small-production wines that honor the winerys pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking.
A dark garnet red color, this wine opens with vanilla, cedar and cocoa notes with a touch of black pepper and aromas of red cherry and raspberry. Fullbodied with a nicely integrated mid-palate and flavors of blackberry mixed with licorice and spice. Structured with elegant tannins, the finish is long, lingering and nuanced.
The collection of wines explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Northern California. The Vinicultural Society explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Sonoma County. In keeping with the adventurous spirit of Buena Vistas founding, we are proud to bring you this 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Moon Mountain District of Sonoma County.
The grapes were
harvested between October 16 from the Mountain Terraces Vineyard. Reaching 2,000 feet above sea level on the western slopes, the vineyard is known for producing intense mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was fermented before being aged for 20 months in 44% new French oak, resulting in an approachable and classic Cabernet Sauvignon.
