2018 The Count's Selection Moon Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society was formed in 1863 by the winerys founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards. The Vinicultural Society has been restored as a collection of unique small-production wines that honor the winerys pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking.

Sold out.

A dark ruby red color, this wine opens with cassis, earth and cocoa notes with a touch of cedar and red fruit aromas. Full-bodied with a nicely textured mid-palate and flavors of black currant fruit mixed with sassafras and dried herbs. Structured with plush tannins, the finish is long and nuanced.

The collection of wines explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Northern California. The Vinicultural Society explores clonal
selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Sonoma County. In keeping with the adventurous spirit of Buena Vistas founding, we are proud to bring you this 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Moon Mountain District of Sonoma County.

The grapes were harvested between October 9 and November 6 from the Mountain Terraces Vineyard. Reaching 2,000 feet above sea level on the western slopes, the vineyard is known for producing intense mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was fermented before being aged for 19 months in 50% new French oak, resulting in an approachable and classic Cabernet Sauvignon.
