2016 Moon Mountain District Cabernet Suavignon

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winery's founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique small-production wines that honor the winery's pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking.

Sold out.

A deep, dark red in the glass, this 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of licorice, cassis and black olive. Ripe flavors of blueberry, plum and dark chocolate spread across the palate with a hint of earthiness and anise on the finish. The mouthfeel has a beautiful velvety texture and the finish is long and intense.

The grapes were harvested October 1-8 from the Mountain Terraces Vineyard. Reaching 2,000 feet above sea level on the western slopes, the vineyard is known for producing intense mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was fermented before being aged for 20 months in 100% French oak, 30% new, resulting in an approachable and classic Cabernet Sauvignon.
