2015 Count's Selection Charbono

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winery's founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique, small production wines that honor the winery's pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking.

Sold out.

Flavors of black cherry, rhubarb and blueberry are balanced with an earthy spiciness. This medium-bodied wine offers big tannins which will allow it to age beautifully.

The Count’s Selection Charbono hails from the Shypoke Vineyard's old vines (50+ years old) which are situated on the valley floor of Napa County in warm Calistoga. Also known as Bernardo, there are very few vineyards left planted to this unique varietal that was one of many brought back by the Count during his vine collecting expedition to Europe. Our 2015 vintage was 100% barrel-aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 25% new oak.
