A rich ruby color in the glass, our 2014 Countís Selection Charbono offers enticing aromas of blackberry and subtle spice. Flavors of black cherry, rhubarb and blueberry with hints of cola are balanced with an earthy spiciness. This medium bodied wine offers big tannins which will allow it to age beautifully over the next 5-10 years.
The Count's Selection Charbono hails from the Shypoke Vineyard's old vines (50+ years old) which are situated on the valley floor of Napa County in warm Calistoga. Also known as Bernardo, there are very few vineyards left planted to this unique varietal that was one of many brought back by the Count during his vine collecting expedition to Europe. Our 2014 vintage was picked on October 3rd and was 100% barrel-aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 25% new oak.
Our culinary team suggests pairing it alongside grilled spiced lamb chops or a hearty beef stew with garden vegetables.
