2017 Eleanora's Selection Chardonnay

The Buena Vista Vinicultural Society, formed in 1863 by the winery's founder, Count Agoston Haraszthy, to further improve its winemaking prowess and expand its vineyards, has been restored as a collection of unique, small-production wines that honor the winery's pioneering spirit and contribution to California winemaking. The Vinicultural Society explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Northern California.

Our 2017 Eleanoras Selection Chardonnay is a light, pale yellow color in the glass and is bursting with aromas of golden delicious apples, honey suckle and a slight touch of spring time florals. Fresh flavors of vanilla, lemon crème and bright minerality lead to a softer palate with a medium plus body, medium acid and a dense, round mouthfeel.

Named for Count Haraszthys wife, Eleanoras Selection Chardonnay is harvested from the Stubbs Vineyard located in Marin County, one of the coolest AVAs in California, Hawk Hill Vineyard situated in the far southwest corner of the Russian River Valley and Lorenzo Vineyard home to old vine Chardonnay in the Russian River Valley. After hand harvesting, the grapes were whole cluster pressed into French oak barrels, 20% new, aged on the lies for 14 months and then bottled unfiltered.
