2017 Sparkling Rosé of Zinfandel

While Agoston Haraszthy was most recognized as being the Father of California viticulture, he was also the father of six illustrious children. His third son, Arpad, spent over two years in France learning the craft of sparkling wine and later became the first to introduce Méthode Traditionelle sparkling wine into California winemaking.

This one-of-a-kind sparkling wine showcases a beautiful rose-pink color and a bouquet filled with bright fruit aromas of raspberry, strawberry and cherry. Light delicate bubbles caress the palate with flavors of grapefruit, blood orange and a nutty characteristic. This is a light and bright fruit forward sparkling wine with a good mid-palate and balanced acidity. The finish is long and dry.

Arpads sparkling wine, Eclipse, was one of the most celebrated in the nineteenth century and we pay tribute to his legacy through this Sparkling Rosé of Zinfandel. The grapes were not only harvested on a total eclipse on August 21, 2017 but was also disgorged on a total solar eclipse on July 2, 2019. It is only appropriate that this sparkling wine is made from Zinfandel grapes as Arpads first sparkling wine was made from Zinfandel and Agoston Harazthy has been credited with bringing the first Zinfandel vines to California in 1852, however, this still remains a subject of discussion today.
